- When should I start saving for my child's education? This is a question I almost get asked on the daily, and the answer is as soon as you think about it because it's so important. It doesn't matter when you start, it's most important that you do start, because every dollar that you set aside for your child's education is going to make a real difference when they go to college. In my case I started my child's education plan even before he was born. But I'm a financial advisor, this is what I do. But even if you start now you're not too late.
