- Do you ever start to feel stiff when sitting at your desk after working straight for several hours? That's because you need to get up and move. When you take walks, you feel better, you're more creative, and you can think more clearly. Walking gets your heart pumping, blood flowing, and clears your head. It leaves you ready to get back to work feeling refreshed and more productive. Here are a few steps to making sure you're fitting a walk or two into your day. First, make sure you take the time. Even a five to 10-minute walk can do wonders to help clear your head, especially when you're trying to work out a problem for work. So either get up and take a walk when you feel lethargic and stiff, or simply schedule that 10-minute walk several times a day. For example, at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
