- Over the past few years, I've spoken to plenty of clients facing change and even adversity way outside of their control. I noticed something about those who remained optimistic during that time. It wasn't that their external circumstances were easier on them. The thing that set them apart was their clarity on what's important to them. Now, this brings to mind something called psychological flexibility which I describe as the ability to accept the present moment even when the going gets tough and stay focused on what's important to you even if that means recalculating your route. People who are psychologically flexible are well-versed on reframing their response to threat. Why? Because they have the ability to stay focused on what's important to them.
