- Today more than ever before you have the opportunity to become a better public speaker by learning from the greatest speakers ever because you live in the age of the internet. Not too many years ago your only options were observational learning, maybe a good friend or a mentor to advise you, and possibly a training course on effective presentations. Now you only need your favorite search engine. This is step one. Go find at least ten interesting speeches. The very best speakers from politics, business, sports, entertainment, are right there at your fingertips online. Instead of giving you specific names, let me just say that across different ages, genders, and vocations, there are so many good examples to enjoy. From preachers to public speakers, you have to start spending time watching them deliver. Step two, sit quietly and watch. Don't take notes, not at first.
