Structure of the HR function
- [Instructor] The HR function is multi-faceted. As a strategic partner, HR helps create a company's go-forward strategy. As an administrative function, HR is responsible for recording-keeping and compliance with employment laws and regulations. In its operational role, HR is recruiting, coaching, and implementing employee engagement programs. The diverse nature of the HR function requires interactions with other core business functions, also referred to as internal stakeholders. You can learn more about each function in the exercise file. Within the HR function there are varied roles. People in leadership roles may have titles like Chief HR Officer, or HR Director. These are the individuals responsible for establishing and implementing HR strategy. The jane-of-all-trades role is the generalist.
