- Okay, so we've prioritized and we've set realistic expectations. Now it's time to lean in and do the work. But there's just one problem. Focus is boring for almost all of us. It's more fun to chase shiny objects and keep hopping onboard the next thing and the next thing instead of hunkering down to make progress on the goal you've identified as being the most important. After all, what if this new thing is the wave of the future? We wouldn't want to miss out, right? Sometimes yes, the shiny object really is gold and would be a great thing to focus on. But more often than not, it's a ball of aluminum foil that catches your eye and then skitters away after disrupting all the effort you had been putting into a well-crafted strategy.
