Sprint zero lasts more than four weeks

- Sprint zero is a controversial topic in the scrum world. Many experts argue that since there's no sprint zero in the Scrum Guide there shouldn't be one anywhere. Others argue that sprint zero can serve an important purpose and it's fine so long as it abides by the overall Agile Manifesto and scrum principles. I generally use a sprint zero. This time should be two weeks or less whenever possible, and its purpose is very defined and specific. The goal here is to solidify the product vision, assemble the team, and setup the environment they need to succeed. This goes back to the Agile Manifesto for me. One of the principles states we should build our teams around motivated individuals, give them the environment and support they need. That's exactly what I do in my sprint zeros.
