- So you have a plan for delegating and you have yourself ready to do it effectively. So what can you do to make sure that the work that you've delegated is actually done well? Start with the why. Too often delegation is just telling people what they need to do. Make sure people know why this task needs to be done and the value of its completion. Don't skip this step, or assume that they know. Provide the context, along with the purpose, let people people know why you're asking them. Let them know how this enhances their development, and who the customer is for this work. Describe success. How can people be successful until they know what success is? Describe your expectations for the task.
