Solution: Working with the income statement

(upbeat music) - Welcome back. Your challenge was to find the revenues and expenses on the income statement for a company of your choice. How did that go? Did you find anything interesting about their revenue or did you find anything in the notes about the application of the revenue recognition principle? I also did this challenge, so let's take a look at what I found for Yum! Brands, Inc. Here are three important things I found by looking at the income statement. One, the revenues are shown on one line, so that made me want to look closer at the notes accompanying the income statement to get the bigger details. Two, operating expenses are Yum! Brands' greatest expense. And finally three, net income is lower in 2019 and by 16%. There's more to this story that I can't wait to dig into further. I hope you found your experience equally as interesting.
