Situational leadership in projects
- Effective leaders know how to flex their style based on the needs of individuals, the environment, and the intended outcome. So let's talk about some of the variables that influence how we lead and the different styles we can adopt. One way of thinking about leadership is on a continuum from very hands off to very directive. The art of leading people is figuring out which style to use and when. While there's no one right way, there are some guidelines to think about. The first thing to consider is the experience and knowledge of your team members. Ken Blanchard, author of "The One Minute Manager" and international management consultant developed a situational leadership model based on team members competence levels.
