- Obviously proper user testing or laboratory-based stress testing would be great. But it's expensive, and you're probably not at that stage yet. So let's do some testing on a smaller scale. We'll start by working out what it is we want to get out of the testing. That could be validating your idea. Does it actually make sense? Would people actually use it? Should you continue working on it? Or improving your idea, how will users interact with it? Where can it go wrong, so that we can address the issue now? Or maybe collecting evidence to help you sell the idea. Decision makers often want proof that an idea will work, like a case study by another company that's done it. When you can't show them that, a test might help you collect enough evidence to prevent it from being dismissed offhand. Here are some simple ways to prototype.
