- In many organizations, especially those that are transforming to agile practices, you can readily see the difference between doing agile and being agile. Doing means they're focused on the practices. The practices we're talking about here are things like stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprints, and sprint reviews. Don't get me wrong. Agile practices have real benefits in their own right. The known benefits of using agile practices include managing changing requirements, increasing productivity through process streamlining, improving quality from the design, build, test cycle in short time boxes, and reducing risk through short time boxes. These benefits can create about a 20% lift to the organization, but if the organization goes further and broadly embraces being agile, they can reap even more benefit. The shift is a cultural one.
