- Matrix organizations can be very effective for sharing best practices. When a manufacturing team in Asia learns something new and improves a process, manufacturing teams in other geographies can learn from them and institute the same practices. But only if you have the infrastructure in place for sharing those ideas. Instead of only one manufacturing team looking at a process globally, a matrix enables multiple cells looking at the same process from many different perspectives. This leads to the creation and distribution of new best practices. I have one technology client where they have country-based teams working with product teams working with global operations and technology teams. It's a complex matrix. Recently they had an opportunity where a sales team in Italy identified an opportunity. That team asked for help from technology and operations.
