- Setting expectations is huge, and it should be done in any business. I do it in mine, and my expectation is seven star service, on board the vessel at all times. Now if my crew member doesn't know how to do that, then I'm going to find the training to teach them to do that. Now if your crew member or your team member is not providing that service, then you need to let them go. Because the level of service that people sign on to you for, is the reason they sign on. So for example, in my industry I'm considered a top charter captain because I have very successful charters. I've always been know to have excellent, excellent crew, and what that means is from the table settings to the bed turn downs, to the deck team, to the anchoring, finding the right spots to anchor, knowing the restaurants, knowing the personnel to take them from one point to the next point, I knew, and had everything lined up for that…
