- You know, I studied theater, and all I wanted to do was be an actor. And I had college loans, so when the opportunity came to me to model, I never thought I could model because of the scar on my arm. I took it, and it was helpful to me, but then when I finally started auditioning for acting roles, I didn't get as far as I wanted to, I was very frustrated. And a pinnacle moment for me was when I did do a movie role and I had to gain weight and then lose the weight after the movie, and use my cooking skills to do that. And then somebody found out about that and offered me a book deal. I had never imagined writing a book of any kind, let alone a cookbook, even though I love to cook and collected cookbooks, and yet it was just an opportunity that I thought, well, I have to do it.
