See feedback as a gift

- Feedback is sometimes difficult to receive, but if you view it as a gift it will ultimately add to your success. It's really important to understand the way that the brain works, specifically the amygdala, which is the part of your brain that senses threat. When it senses threat, it triggers fight, flight or freeze. So the last thing you want to do when you're delivering tough news is to start the conversation in any way that can feel threatening. So what do I mean by fight, flight, freeze? So fight is literally when you get into a defensive position. Flight is I just want to get out of here. And freeze is that kind of deer in headlights, which actually is what I tend to do. We each have our own path. And over in the next chapter, we're going to focus on not only how to receive feedback, but also how to give empathetic feedback keeping this in mind.
