- Now for a classic time management trick. This is so powerful and it's often either forgotten or it's not done because people are scared to do it. It's simple, say no. If a colleague asks you to attend a meeting you don't have to be in, if a customer asks you to book a meeting in the middle of some aligned cold calling time, or if a prospect you know isn't going to buy asks you to write a full proposal. All three of those are hour long minimum tasks and remember what I said about taking back an hour a day? Now I'm English and in England, we're usually too polite to push back and say an outright no, so this is a bit of an alien concept to me too, but it really does work. And if you're worried that people won't accept it, make sure you tell them why. Say no because.
