- In this video, I want to share with you an innovation case in disguise. The case is about introducing a handheld scanner to the Indonesian market. The scanner was developed by General Electric and could save thousands of lives of mothers and babies if used during prenatal diagnostic. I had the privilege to work with GE Healthcare on this project and I would like to share the surprising insights we gained in the market research phase GE conducted in Indonesia. The challenges in these markets are daunting but the opportunities are promising. In 2013, Indonesia's population was 250 million, the fourth largest in the world. The gross domestic product per capita is about $3,500. In other words, the vast majority of people are very poor and healthcare is insufficient.
