Join Careercake for an in-depth discussion in this video Role plays, part of How to Succeed at Assessment Centres.
- So, this is where you get to be the person … doing the job in this moment, okay? … So rather than just tell them what you would do … within a scenario, you can show them. … Okay? … So if you're going for a retail role, … this will be something like, … you have to act out a situation … where somebody is pretending to be an angry customer. … How are you going to deal with that? … Don't worry about your acting skills, okay? … So some people say to me, "But how can I do role plays? … "I get embarrassed." … Or "I'm not an actress. … "I'm not very good at, if I was doing the real thing, … "I'd be able to do it. … "But in a role play situation, I can't." … Well, tough. … You're going to have to practice. … You're going to have to practice with friends … and family beforehand. … Have a look at the job, and think about … the things that you would do day-to-day. … What kind of things day-to-day would happen? … And then ask your friends and family … to maybe act out some of those scenarios, okay? …
