- Now, my business is called The Organized Artist Company, so I really can't afford to mess up, or forget things, be late, or be haphazard in my business practices. So the one way I make sure that I am as on point as I can be is to reverse engineer my day. So I start at the end and work backwards, allotting time for every step. Let me explain what I mean. If I know that I've got an important meeting with Joshua downtown at 10, then I will start by writing down 10:00 AM, meet Joshua, 9:45, park, 9:15, leave house, 9:00 AM, check directions, put folder in briefcase, 8:00 AM, shower and dress, 7:00 AM, tea and meditation, et cetera. Working backwards in this way not only ensures that I'll have time for every step. We often forget things, like making time to park, time in the elevator, time to find the podcast when you get in the car.
