- What did you do with your last job? No, not the job description, and no, I don't mean the task you performed nor which box you fit in in the company's org chart. I'm looking at the meta conversation. The context. As you transition out of your job, you'll want to reflect on what you did. For example. One job I held in my career was at a college as their director of career development. I was in charge of a team and we handled, in order, processing, entering students through orientation, setting up appointments and counseling them on resumes, cover letters, and how to interview. Setting them up with internships and jobs and then being available to counsel them about their careers after they graduated. That was my job function. That's what I did day to day. And I'm leaving out all the boring administrative tasks. My vision, my mission, was to enroll my team to inspire our students and alumni to make their dreams…
