- Gamification is not one size fits all. And, in fact, there are several different types of gamification that need to be understood before an organization can apply the right gamification approach to their sales situation. One type of sales gamification has been around a long time. It's the sales contest. The idea is simple. Award a prize to the person who has sold the most over a year, or a quarter, or some designated time. Some people refer to this as sales gamification, and to a small extent, it is gamifying the sales process. However, this is not new or different. In fact, it's a little redundant. The person who sells the most is probably going to receive an award anyway. They've sold the most. They'll get the most commission or some type of bonus. So, contest-focused sales gamification doesn't typically drive new behaviors, or increase sales.
