Recognizing choice moments
When we feel burnt out day after day it's easy to lose sight of the power we have over our everyday choices. But we can't wait for someone else to give us permission to take charge. We need to recognize the power we have to mitigate stress. Let's focus on the three D's. Delay, delegate and deny to help us mitigate the impact of our everyday stressors. First up, delay. How could I deal with this stressor at a later time when I'm better able to manage it? It might be as simple as getting up from your desk for a two-minute walk before answering the anxiety-inducing email that just hit your inbox. Or maybe it looks like telling your colleague "I'm happy to help you with that. "Can we circle back after lunch?" Or saying "end-of-day delivery on that project is unlikely. "Would tomorrow morning work just as well for you?" Sometimes we can in fact put our stressors on hold. Let's recognize this option when it's available to us.…
