Reasons people resist

- In this next video, you get to hear Tatiana's four key team members describe some of the most common reasons for resisting change. - So I started working here after the acquisition. That means that I have the least experience of anyone on the team. And I'm living out of boxes in my apartment. You know, I moved here for the position. I've been in sales my entire career, but everything here still feels new. And that product line, it's just taking me forever to get it in my head. I've been up till like 1:00 am for the past month working on it. It's time-consuming. And just when I thought, "I've got it!" Everything's changing now? I mean, how can I keep up? - Why do we have to change? Our old system works just fine. I want to provide the best service to our clients and if this gets in the way of that, it's just not worth it. Why can't we wait for other departments to test this out and then we decide if we want to use it or not? - This new performance management system is going to affect my take home pay. Last year, I got a bonus at the end of the year. If they start taking out the metrics on sales, I'm going to make less. And with my seniority at this company, that's just not going to fly. I want to retire with the highest salary. Are they going to give us any training or what? - I just don't trust Tatiana. I mean, I went in to talk about my benefits package with her and the entire time I felt so rushed. And then I sent her a couple emails and she didn't even respond. I just don't know how I can trust someone like that. I mean, isn't that her job? I don't know, if management thinks this change is going to be easy, they're totally kidding themselves. It's not easy to be evaluated by this new system. Who even knows what this is going to look like in a year? I don't. - Now that you know the common reasons for resistance, consider the ones which might affect your upcoming change. Concern for self, fear of looking foolish, fatigue from too much change, distrust of the messenger, low tolerance for uncertainty, or sees change as imposed and unnecessary.
