- A big part of the seventh edition of the "PEMBOK Guide" is the project management performance domains. Performance domains are interdependent, overlapping areas of focus for managing a project. The ways the performance domains interact, of course, is different for each project. Let's take a look at the current proposed performance domains. By the time the seventh edition comes out, the performance domains may be a bit different, and some of them may have been split or combined depending on the feedback we get. But for now, this is what we're thinking. Performance domains focus on outcomes, not outputs. In other words, what do you want to see or accomplish associated with this performance domain?
