From the course: Managing Projects as Offices Reopen
Project management in the new normal
- Coming back into the office after a year or so is a big transition for organizations, projects project managers, and team members. Each organization will need to design a strategy that works for them. Each project will need to evaluate how to operate in this transitional environment. And as a project manager, you'll need to dig deep into your reservoir of emotional intelligence for you and your team members. You'll need to recognize and tend to the anxiety, burnout and maybe even trauma or grieving that you and your team members are experiencing. Uncertainty is the rule of the day. Some companies have shut down or reduced project work. Others depending on the industry have accelerated it. So what will that mean for project budgets, speed and scope and of course the wellbeing of our team members. Our team members are dealing with uncertainty in their home lives, such as whether schools are open fully, partially or some hybrid mix between the two. Dealing with this degree of uncertainty on a day to day basis requires flexibility, agility, creativity and resilience. I'm Cindy Snyder Dionisio and I've been leading projects in person and remotely for over 25 years. I'm going to share with you some practical ways you can plan for and adjust to the post pandemic project world. Also, you can address unknowns with the greatest amount of empathy and the least amount of disruption.
