- You just finished a huge project. You put in a ton of hours, double-checked and triple-checked your work. You had the foresight on what your micromanaging boss might nit-pick, and made sure you followed their exact protocol. You hand it into your manager, waiting for a round of applause. Clearly, they would be able to see all the hoops that you jumped through to make it perfect. And then, you get a response something to the tune of this. "Well, why'd you do it this way? "Did you check this number? "Are you sure? "I'm not following; walk me through this. "Ugh, this isn't right. "Do it over or I'll just do it." Markups and red ink splatter the project. So frustrating. You feel defeated, and your confidence is about to slip off the cliff and fall into the abyss if you hear one more critique. I totally get it. I have been there myself.
