Pride in sales
(jazzy piano music) - When I started my first job in sales, I was right out of college, and I was so excited. I was a sales rep with Procter & Gamble. I couldn't wait to tell people. - The prestige. - The prestige, I know, I was so excited, and I would say to family and friends, I'd go to networking events, and people would say, "What do you do?" The classic question, and I would say, "I'm in sales." People would respond with, "Well, I could never do that." The way I heard that was I heard that as, "Wow, that must be so rewarding and so challenging, "like, oh my gosh, like a brain surgeon, wow, "I could never do that." - Classically so. - Yeah, and I would say, "Well, it really does take a special person," 'cause I thought they were complimenting me. Instead they were saying, "How do you do this sleazy thing?" I maintain, and I know I was right, sales is a noble profession. We've just let a small percentage of people who do it badly define it for us. - That's so true, and I read this…
