- Maybe the most interesting role in the entire skip level process is the role played by the manager being skipped. Frankly, the word skipped might not be ideal, because it seems to imply that the person needed to be left out, and that's not the case. This is just a technique to build bonds across different levels, that's all. But, please understand, that even though skipped level meetings have become common, there are some tiny risks. Most importantly, the manager being skipped might feel odd, as if being skipped is somehow a problematic comment about them. They might assume you feel you're not getting the communication you need from them. They could assume you don't trust them. They could even worry about what their team might say.
