- Let's imagine you've been successful in your negotiation for a raise. With a lot of skill and confidence, plus a little good timing thrown in, your wallet might feel a little fatter. Other than celebration, now what? Well, now is the time to gather up those goals of yours, along with the influence plan you created in gathering your support system, and strategize your year. To keep your career on an intentional trajectory in between this raise and the next, I want to take a look at several things you need to do in the coming year. First, thank everyone who had a hand in making your raise or promotion happen. Whether that was the compensation review team, your boss, or an influencer who made a special effort on your behalf, show your gratitude. An email, a thank-you card, or maybe lunch.
