- Thank you for joining me in the tricky topic of starting memorable conversations. Next time you find yourself in a position where you can start an impromptu conversation, you'll have a plan. You will read the setting, you'll make a general comment, and then ask an open-ended question. This is a solid formula and in the exercise files, I give you different opportunities to test it out and set an action plan around it. In this course, we covered several drills to practice with. Now that you have them, run the same drills in your mind when you observe people. Do they look open to being approached? What would be a good general comment? Eventually, can you get to the place where you actually verbalize that comment? I arrived to this country several years ago not speaking the language fluently. I can confidently say that part of my professional network and verbal proficiency has been built on conversation starter practice.…
