Practice early wins
- If you want to conquer the world, you need some early wins. The original Nintendo came out when I was nine, and several of my relatives conspired against my parents and surprised my brother and I with one for Christmas. Many childhood hours were spent conquering some world level by level. Occasionally my brother and I would deem a game too easy or too hard, but most games had an uncanny ability to suck us in and hold our attention. If you've ever played a video game or even a puzzle app, you know what I'm talking about. Designers work hard to build games that are easy to learn but hard to master, carefully curating the difficulty of each level so that you feel challenged, but never stuck.
