Posture for success

Posture for success

- [Instructor] Let's talk about posture. How should we sit? Our minds get signals about how to act from our bodies. So if we're laying down, we naturally start to get sleepy. If we're running, we're highly alert. To get in a performance zone ready for work, it's helpful to be seated when meditating. We find a comfortable, yet alert position. I like to sit in a chair where my feet can touch the floor and my hands are resting in my lap. And my back is straight, but not so straight that I'm uncomfortable. I want my body to be out of the way. Comfortable enough I'm not going to notice it for the time I'm meditating. And we can keep our eyes open or closed. I like them closed, as it reduces the distractions that surround me, and it makes it easier for me to focus. Some people like to keep their eyes open and just have a soft gaze on a fixed point in front of them. However you sit, try to keep that balance of being comfortable yet alert.
