- Have you ever driven down the road when suddenly someone goes flying by at a speed clearly in excess of the speed limit? Sure you have. We all have. And what were your thoughts? They might've included words like careless, aggressive, and reckless. Now, think back to a time when you might have driven too fast. You may have been late for an appointment. Perhaps you were on your way to the hospital because you just got word a loved one was admitted. Or maybe you normally drive fast but believe you're still a good cautious driver. Whatever the case, you had good reason. It's not uncommon for us to judge others strictly by their behavior, whereas we judge ourselves by our intent. The reality is we never know why someone else is doing what they're doing, so why not extend the same benefit of the doubt when it comes to their intent?
