- Political skills are among the most important in your career. It comes down to your ability to understand others motives, how people are connected and how and when to build support for a decision you wish to make. To be clear, politics is not a negative thing. In excess, it can be, but generally it's just about know how your decision fits into a larger picture so that you can think strategically long-term. Here's the reality. Sometimes you'll make the decision you feel is correct.
