- It's really trendy right now to ask for feedback on the spot. We've got a million and one apps that facilitate real-time feedback. But, I have a question for you. Have you ever walked out of a meeting and turned to your colleague or your boss, and said, "Hey, how did you think I did?" And they say, "Good job! You did great, Jodi." Or, you send out an important email to a client, and then you ask for feedback. And everyone on the team says, "Really good email." When we ask people for feedback on the spot, 99% of the time, (chuckles) we hear, "Great job! Keep up the good work." And yet, that's not helpful, and it doesn't help us get better at our job. But, it's the easy answer. Think about it, when someone asks you for feedback in the moment, are you good at giving actionable, meaningful, constructive feedback on the spot?
