- When your circumstances change, you have to change. Selling with uncertainty is a topic that's near and dear to my heart because I had to do it myself in some very challenging circumstances. In 2009, we had a family business that went bankrupt and it was the middle of the recession. And so, in that moment my consulting business, was going to be the sole support for our family and we had to declare bankruptcy, we had no money, and I was now supposed to go out and sell. I was so nervous and I was so afraid. I remember some nights just lying in bed with my heart pounding because I was so worried about the future and about money. I couldn't think straight. Well, I knew that's not the best state of mind to go out and make sales calls, because I thought if I go out there as one of those graspy, needy sales people, I might close some business, but I'm not going to close the big business, which is what I was really looking for.…
