Personal bias and empathy

- Have you heard of claustrophobia? That's the fear of enclosed spaces. What about ophidiophobia? That's the fear of snakes I have both of these fears, but every day I get into small elevators and I walk my dogs in the forest where I know there are snakes. I've learned I can't let fear control me. Let's face it, life isn't always comfortable. (chuckles) And you know what? That's okay. We can't let our fears stop us from growing and exploring new things. First, is the belief that empathy is weakness. That when they show compassion or care about other people's emotions, they'll be vulnerable and risk being taken advantage of. This is common among inexperienced leaders who believe they need to be logical and ruthless to succeed. The Center for Creative Leadership surveyed over 6,700 leaders from 38 countries.
