- From our observation of meetings, it's common for 10 to 15% of participants to be unnecessary, to achieving the task of the meeting. A conversation around this can help improve their contribution or if the meeting is really not relevant free up their time by not attending in future. If you go back to your meeting health check sheet, now's the time to look at the participation of the individuals at the meeting. Take a look at the vertical columns to see each individual's pattern of contributions. In some cases, you'll find that people contribute very little if at all. Now the number of times people speak isn't the only measure of quality. However, where individuals have a very low level of participation, they maybe happy themselves but they aren't really adding any value to others if they're not contributing.
