- Passion, have a passion for what you do. Have a passion for the field of journalism. I so firmly believe that this is the most portant time for journalists ever. Under assault, being called the enemy of the American people. We are the protector of American democracy. Enshrined in the First Amendment, the freedom of press to hold those in power accountable. Sunshine is the best disinfectant, that's what the press does. We shine a light on abuse of power, whether it's in the Catholic Church, or whether it's in government, or whether it's in a corporation. That's what we do, that's the only way to achieve change.
