- How do you know how your project is doing? I'll let you in on a secret. Projects don't usually succeed or fail during the delivery phase. They succeed or fail when they're handed off to customers and either deliver their business goals or miss them. As the PMO is tasked to improve business performance through projects, it has to care about that period after the project completes. Otherwise, it can't ensure success. But most PMOs have no involvement by that point.
