- [Narrator] If you enjoy promoting healthy lifestyles and sharing that information with others, a job as a dietary technician may be a good fit for you. One of the most interesting things about being a dietary tech is that, whether you work in a hospital, assisted living facility, or skilled nursing facility, every day is different, so flexibility is an essential skill. You'll start each morning by meeting with the dietary staff and registered dieticians to learn about new admissions and changes in dietary orders. Then you'll process the new orders. This means that you'll generate and edit patient tray tickets, and enter data into the computer. Then you'll review the diet orders and menus from the units and prepare production sheets for the specific food to be prepared.
