Overview of Relationship Manager role

- A Client Relationship Manager is a critical member of any sales organization. If you're already one, you of course know this. Your job is to make sure every one of your clients is happy, always, so that your firm can maximize the revenue and value of each customer, and if that client becomes not so happy, your job is to win them back. Exceptional relationship managers are great at interacting with all types of people and personalities, including the more, shall we say, prickly ones. But being great with people isn't the only key attribute that decision makers will be looking for when you interview for this role. Depending on the specifics of the job description, you'll also want to be sure and demonstrate your listening skills, your subject matter expertise, and your problem-solving skills. And be sure and share your success in cross-selling, or upselling customers on new or expanded offerings. I'd also make sure the interviewer gets a feel for your collaboration capabilities because you'll most likely be working closely with the account execs and the SDRs on your team. This definitely isn't the time to roll in and share some stories about your golf outings or your nights out with clients, and then call her done. You need to demonstrate throughout this interview that you've got what it takes to deliver for both your clients and your company.
