Overcoming objections to fewer meetings

- As you start to disconnect from meetings or challenge whether individuals need to attend, you might start to experience some resistance. Sometimes this is just a normal inertia that we need to overcome to make a change. But some of the sources of resistance might be valid. Or we may need to have alternative strategies in place to deal with these if we really want to have fewer meetings. One common objection is that whilst people agree that the content of the meeting is poor. They like to attend because they think it helps their visibility or to build their network. This could be a fair point, particularly for people at an early stage of their careers. Visibility and networking are important. But surely the best way to achieve those is not sitting in irrelevant meetings hoping someone will notice you.
