- I was sitting in a meeting recently, where the team at the table was explaining why their project would be late. They told their leader that they were at a point where they had to integrate their work with the work of a second project team from another department, and the other team wasn't cooperating. They asked the leader to apply some pressure on their behalf. This is a simple example that illustrates so much. Different departments may have conflicting objectives or norms. People may come to rely on formal leadership to solve their problems, rather than taking ownership. Individual creativity can hit a wall when we have to work together across the organizational structure.
