- When you have a long layover at a connecting airport, it's usually difficult to find a comfortable place to sit or relax or just hang out, especially if you want to get some work done while you wait for your next flight. The waiting areas at the gates are usually overcrowded, and the same goes for sitting at the bar or at a table in a restaurant, and you usually have to buy something just to sit there. You might have looked into the entrances of airline lounges as you've walked by them in the airport, wondering if they're worth the cost of entry. Lounges are generally less crowded than the gate waiting areas, unless you're there during peak times, and they often offer more comfortable seats, couches, and even workstations where you can sit to get things done on your computer.
