- Developing new skills is essential in today's workforce, even at mid-career. As a result of globalization and technology, the skills necessary to move up in your career are something you may need to acquire. Employers are increasingly focused on finding the technical skills typically gained through higher level education, but often state they have difficulty filling these positions.
