- [Instructor] Just as there is an ethical foundation to mindfulness practice, I think it's important that we realize from the very, very beginning that there's also an attitudinal foundation. And I have been alluding to it when I've been talking about a kind of affectionate attention or being gentle and non-judgmental with ourselves. So actually, at one point I mapped out this attitudinal foundation in my first book, "Full Catastrophe Living." And I name, although there are many more than seven, I name seven attitudinal factors that are really foundational in mindfulness practice. And they are one, non-judging. We've talked some about that already but we've got ideas and opinions about everything. I mean, just start paying attention to what's on your mind and basically everything is a judgment of one kind or another, like there's the one like that as we've been talking about.
