- Thanks for thinking with me about your depression and congratulations on finishing the course. Remember, even though 43% of depressed people will recover from depression, more than half will have ups and downs, or some ongoing symptoms. And more than a third of depressed people in primary care practices relapse within a year. The clinical course of depression is different for different people. Some may show recovery as early as one week after starting medication. Others may show a partial response by four weeks. And there may be those who need a few months before they can get back on their feet again. To help prevent a relapse or recurrence, it's important that you develop a prevention plan with your doctor or therapist. Research shows that you can head off relapses if you stay on your medication as prescribed, and monitor your symptoms so that you detect them early. If you've recovered, consider transforming the company culture by helping others who may also be battling depression.…
