From the course: Creating a Connection Culture

Next steps

- In this course you've learned how team and organizational cultures can be cultures of control, indifference, or connection. You've learned how creating a connection culture happens when leaders communicate an inspiring vision, value people as human beings and give them a voice. You've learned practices to boost connection in the culture you work in. As a next step, I encourage you to invite your colleagues to go through this course and then read my book "Connection Culture" to go deeper. Meet together to discuss the concepts and how they apply in your work context. Organize people into small groups of no more than three individuals, either in person or virtually, to share their answers to questions that engage them with the material. I've included some questions to guide your discussion in the exercise files. Your goal is to help people understand what connection is, why it's important to help them thrive personally and for the group to thrive, and the dangers of disconnection and consequences of failing to develop a connection culture. During this early phase, it's important to be interactive and for people to feel safe so that they openly share their experiences and any concerns they have. If we fail to engage people as they're developing a connection mindset and building connection habits, some may oppose change and work against it. By getting people to engage in conversation from the start and patiently addressing any misconceptions they may have, you will reduce their concerns. Forcing change is like building a foundation on sand that will make maintaining change less likely, especially during challenging seasons that every organization encounters. By taking time to develop a connection mindset first, you will be building a strong foundation for lasting change. Thank you for watching this course. Feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn or visit my website, connectionculture.com to learn about the many resources my colleagues and I provide to help support you as you develop a connection culture. Mark this day. Begin connecting and watch what happens. I promise that over time you'll experience greater peace, hope and joy that comes from having an abundance of connection in your life.
